Terms of Service
Last updated: July 18, 2026
1. Agreement to Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and CodeNest LLC, a Michigan limited liability company ("CodeNest," "we," "us," or "our"). By downloading, installing, or using the MoneyMap mobile application, our website, and related services (together, the "Service"), you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent that you are 18 or older and are legally capable of entering into this agreement.
3. Description of Service
MoneyMap is a personal finance management application for tracking financial accounts, transactions, budgets, and goals. Your financial data is stored locally on your device. If you enable sync and backup, that data is end-to-end encrypted on your device before it is transmitted to and stored on our servers, using encryption keys that are generated and held on your devices. We cannot read your synced financial data. Our Privacy Policy describes in detail what information we process and how.
4. Accounts and Registration
Registration: Using the Service requires creating an account through our authentication provider. You must provide accurate information and keep your credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity under your account.
Shared accounts: MoneyMap allows you to invite other people (for example, household members) to share your MoneyMap account. Everyone on a shared account can see and modify the account's financial data. You are responsible for who you invite, and for sharing your encryption key only with people you trust. Removing a member does not un-share information they already had access to.
5. Encryption Keys, Backups, and Data Loss
Your keys, your data: The encryption keys protecting your synced data exist only on your devices and in any backups or copies you make of them. We do not have your keys and cannot recover your encrypted data if they are lost. If you lose access to all of your devices and have no copy of your encryption key, your synced data is permanently unrecoverable — by you, by us, or by anyone else.
Backups and export: Sync and backup are provided as a convenience and are not guaranteed to be error-free or uninterrupted. The app includes an export feature (Settings → Export) that produces an unencrypted copy of your data; we recommend exporting periodically. You are responsible for maintaining your own copies of data you cannot afford to lose.
6. Subscriptions and Billing
Auto-renewing subscription: Some features of the Service require a paid subscription. Subscriptions are billed through your Apple App Store or Google Play account, automatically renew at the end of each billing period at the then-current price, and continue until cancelled. Prices are shown in the app before purchase.
Free trials: If a free trial is offered, your subscription begins (and billing starts) automatically when the trial ends unless you cancel before then.
Cancellation and refunds: You can cancel at any time in your device's App Store or Google Play subscription settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Payments are processed by Apple or Google, and refunds are governed by their policies — we cannot issue refunds for purchases made through their platforms.
Account-wide coverage: Subscriptions apply to your MoneyMap account, not to an individual user. One active subscription covers everyone sharing the account.
Price changes: If we change subscription pricing, the new price applies no earlier than your next renewal, and you will be notified in advance as required by the applicable app store.
7. Bank Connections and Third-Party Services
MoneyMap connects to your financial institutions through third-party providers, Plaid Inc. and Stripe Inc. Your banking credentials are provided directly to and handled by those providers — never by us. By connecting an institution, you authorize these providers to retrieve your account and transaction information on your behalf and to share it with the Service, subject to their own terms and privacy policies. We do not control and are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or reliability of third-party financial services or the data they return.
8. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or to solicit unlawful activity
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any portion of the Service
- Use the Service to transmit viruses, malware, or other malicious code
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers connected to the Service
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any portion of the Service, other users' accounts, or other users' data
- Access the Service by automated means or resell, sublicense, or provide the Service to third parties as a service
9. App Store Terms
The app is distributed through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, and your use of those platforms is subject to their terms. These Terms are between you and CodeNest only — not with Apple or Google. Apple and Google have no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app and are not responsible for addressing any claims relating to it. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
10. Intellectual Property Rights
The Service and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by CodeNest LLC and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app for personal, non-commercial purposes on devices you own or control. Your financial data remains yours; you grant us only the limited rights needed to store and transmit it (in encrypted form) to provide the Service.
11. Disclaimers
Not financial advice: MoneyMap is a tool for organizing and tracking your financial information. It does not provide financial, investment, legal, or tax advice. Categorizations, calculations, projections, and insights are informational only — verify them before making financial decisions.
Accuracy: Data retrieved from financial institutions may be delayed, incomplete, or inaccurate. The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, CodeNest LLC and its members, employees, agents, and suppliers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of the Service. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the greater of $50 or the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the claim arose. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
13. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless CodeNest LLC and its members, employees, contractors, and agents from any claims, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your violation of these Terms or your misuse of the Service.
14. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from within the app (Settings → Delete Account); deletion removes your account data from our servers as described in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms. Termination does not by itself cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription — manage that in your device's subscription settings. Data stored locally on your device remains on your device; export it before deleting your account if you want to keep a server-independent copy.
15. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Before filing any claim, you agree to contact us at support@moneymap.cc and give us 30 days to work toward an informal resolution. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Kent County, Michigan, and you consent to their jurisdiction — except that either party may bring an individual claim in small claims court. To the extent permitted by law, both parties waive the right to participate in a class action.
16. Changes to Terms
We may modify these Terms from time to time. If a change is material, we will provide at least 30 days' notice (for example, in the app or by email) before it takes effect. Continued use of the Service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
17. Miscellaneous
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and CodeNest regarding the Service. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.
